Field issues are no fatality
Field issues are no fatality

We recently had a very interesting discussion with a prospect. He was relating that his company has issues with some test tools. Despite some test names and descriptions, many tests were actually not performing what they were supposed to do. It could seem minor but apparently the situation had lead into some interoperability issues in the field, with problems not being caught during certification. Field issues is likely to be the worst possible case.

But this situation is not a fatality!!

There are few ways to overcome the situation:

  1. adopt a test plan that is not written/translated by a human ➜ adopt a test plan which coverage is computed dynamically and which output is already machine-readable, direct test tool input. If necessary, emphasize on the areas that have been spotted with issues.
  2. develop a Quality Testing tool that will challenge the test tools without requiring to change the existing test plan. This has the benefit to also allow the support of all the options defined in the specifications so the test tools can actually execute all tests (and not just the subset supported by the first product available)

As you may expect, Mellonne does both 🙂. We can also discuss other scenarios mixing extra constraints.

What about you, are you facing similar problems❓
